APPLIED ART: JEWELLERY

INTRODUCTION

This research guide APPLIED ART: JEWELLERY refers to useful or important sources inside and outside the Rijksmuseum and provides some search tips for collection and literature research on jewellery.

Jewellery belongs to the applied arts. In the applied arts, jewellery is often classified not by function, but by material: glass, ceramic, wood, metal, etc. This makes jewelry a difficult research topic.

In START RESEARCH, possible search strategies for researching historical jewellery are explained. We also list introductory standard and reference works.

In SEARCH FOR AND IN MUSEAL COLLECTIONS, we provide tips for searching the Rijksmuseum collections and beyond.

Under LITERATURE RESEARCH you will find the most important bibliographic databases and catalogs for research into applied art.
